It\u2019s also got a number of other things going for it too \u2013 it\u2019s got plenty of interior space (handy for families) and it\u2019s pretty stylish to boot, too. Ford Fiesta<\/h2>\n

Spotting a pattern? Yes, Ford and Vauxhall were amongst two of the top manufacturers whose cars were scrapped in 2023. It takes a lot to top out the top contenders for the most popular car in the UK (including, incidentally, the Ford Focus and the Vauxhall Corsa), but the Fiesta manages it! More than once, it\u2019s been named as the nation\u2019s best-selling vehicle. It\u2019s fun to drive, easy to repair, and cheap to run \u2013 all of which are pretty big tick-boxes for drivers across the nation. Like the Ford Focus, the Fiesta\u2019s high stats don\u2019t necessarily reflect its lack of reliability (quite the contrary) \u2013 more just the sheer number of them on the road.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vauxhall Astra<\/h2>\n

Closing out our short list, the British-made Vauxhall Astra also tends to earn top marks from drivers in the areas of reliability, versatility and affordability. Vauxhall Astras are generally easy to maintain too, given the wide availability of parts and components: ranging from transmissions and body panels all the way up to more expensive parts like engines and catalytic converters.
